Journey
Allan Watson Waswa, born in Uganda on October 12, 1988, is an evocative violinist and actor heralded from Kampala, weaving genres from instrumental and world music into folk-infused narratives. His passion for music was realized in 2015 at Makerere University’s Milege Acoustic Project. There, he met guitarist David Tayebwa, and the synergy between them led to the formation of The Tabs Ug, a violin-and-guitar duo that mesmerized audiences with covers of legendary soundtracks such as Game of Thrones, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Last of the Mohicans. Between 2015 and 2018, their artistic performances graced numerous Kampala venues, bringing a unique auditory blend to events and festivals like the Milege World Music Festival. When The Tabs Ug disbanded, Waswa pursued a solo career, characterized by his 2020 album "In My Dreams" and 2021 EP "Trying." Influences from storytelling giants like the Dixie Chicks have permeated his work, allowing a cinematic yet accessible folk aesthetic to emerge, resonating deeply with his audiences. His music stands as a testament to his artistic evolution and commitment to blending traditional sounds with contemporary narratives.
